Environmental incentives

Description

Environmental incentives can have either harmful or positive impacts on biodiversity and the environment. In general, harmful incentives are a result of government actions that provide an advantage to producers or consumers, through supplementing their income or lowering their costs, but result in negative impacts on biodiversity and the environment. Positive incentives encompass a range of economic incentives to encourage both consumers and producers to promote the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity. 1
